BIM - Building Information Modeling

Building Information Modeling combines all the Information of a Real Estate Project into one Folder or File – so-called BIM´s (Building Information Models).

It is used to create, edit, hand-over and archive relevant Information Data of an Asset in construction or already existing.

Since every Real Estate owner knows how difficult it is to keep the most recent versions of as-built plans collected in one place and/or up-to-date, BIM delivers a solution.

In BIM, all the participants of a project are working in the same Folder or File which is linked together. By implementing BIM into a new construction Project, for example, collecting and storing hundreds of folders becomes irrelevant. The one and only point of information is the dedicated BIM File and secures exchange of information between the Projects stakeholders.

Usually, these are:

  • Architects (Design)
  • Engineers (Structural, Technical)
  • General Contractor (Building)
  • Facility Manager

Each of these Parties creates a designated planning for their discipline. BIM assures the information exchange between relevant parties at all times.

This does not only provides advantages in terms of speed and complexity, it also reduces the margin of error coming from misunderstandings and misinformation between the parties.
